Statement of Faith
FAITHFUL WORD ASSEMBLY is a Spirit filled, non-denominational church. It is a fundamental, conservative assembly in the Pentecostal/Charismatic tradition.

We believe...

In the divine inspiration of the Bible (II Tim. 3:16-17; 2 Pet. 1:20-21; cf.Matt. 5:18).

           In one God, who as One Divine Spirit, eternally exists as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matt. 28:19;

            I Jo.5:7;  2 Cor. 13:14; Jo. 14:16-17).

That Jesus Christ co-equally co-existed from eternity with the Father (Jo. 1:1).

  • That He became flesh by being conceived supernaturally in the womb of the Virgin Mary (Jo. 1:14; Lu. 1:28-36). That He lived a sinless life, was crucified, buried and raised from the dead. That He ascended to Heaven and is today at the right hand of the Father.
  • In the depravity of mankind. All of humanity is lost in sin and in need of a savior. (Rom. 3:23).
  • That genuine repentance is commanded by God of all men and is necessary for forgiveness (Acts 2:37-38; Rom. 10:9-17).
  • That man is Regenerated, Justified, Sanctified, and Born Again by faith in the Atoning Blood of the Lord Jesus Christ (I Tim. 1:15; Rom. 10:9-17; I Pet. 1:18-19; Jo. 3:1-8; I Jo. 1:9-22; Tit. 3:5-7; Eph.2:8-9).

In Water Baptism by Immersion, and that all who believe and repent should be Baptized in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ after the Apostolic tradition and Biblical example (Mk. 16:16; Acts 2:38; 8:16; 10:48; 19:5; Gal. 3:27; Rom. 6:1-5).

  • In the Baptism of the Holy Spirit subsequent to Salvation, and in Speaking in Other Tongues as the usual evidence of having received the Holy Spirit (Lu. 11:9-13; Acts 2:1-4, 38-39; 8:14-17;10:44-46; 19:1-6; Mk. 16:15).

In the Divine Institution of Marriage; that it is a Sacred Covenant between a man and a woman (Gen.2:24; Matt.19:5; Mk.10:7), who as Husband and Wife commit to live in a monogamous relationship for love, procreation and companionship (Prov.5:15-19; Mal.2:15; 1 Cor.7:3-5), until death (Matt.19:5-6; Mk.10:7-9; Mal.2:14-16).

  • That Divine Healing is promised to the believer (Mk. 16:15f; Ja 5:14-15; Matt. 21:22), provided in the Atonement (Isa. 53:1-5; Ps. 103:3; Matt. 21:22), and available through believing prayer (Mk. 9:23; 11:24; Ja. 5:15).
  • In the Divine Institution of the Church, the necessity of its fellowship, the value of its instruction, and the active participation of all of its membership (I Cor. 12:12-27; Heb. 10:25; Acts 2:42; Jo. 4:20-24; II Tim. 2:15).
  • In the Divine Ordinances. Those ordered by Christ: Water Baptism and the Communion of the Bread and Cup (I Cor. 11:20-26; Matt. 28:19).
  • In a premillennial return of Christ for a ready Church (Matt. 25:1-13; 1 Thess. 4:13-18; Rev. 3:10; 12:1-5), a seven year period of Great Tribulation, a literal Return of Christ to earth at the battle of Armageddon, the binding of Satan and a 1000 year reign of Christ on earth.
  • In the Resurrection of the wicked and the just: the just to eternal blessedness and joy at the coming of the Lord (I Thess. 4:13-18), and the wicked to eternal fire and torment after the Millennium (Rev. 20:10-15).
  • That Holiness of life is evidence of genuine faith (Heb. 12:14; I Thess. 4:7).
  • That the Gifts of the Holy Spirit as well as the Fruits of the Holy Spirit should be in evidence and operation in the life of the believer (I Cor. 12:1,7,10,28,31; 14:1; Mk. 16:17-20; Gal. 5:22-23).

"Holding fast to the faithful word." (Titus 1:9)

A Short History of Faithful Word Assembly

Faithful Word Assembly was incorporated and registered in the state of Louisiana on April 16, 1990, as a Christian Church; a non-profit organization. It is a non-denominational church in the Pentecostal/Charismatic tradition.

The church filed for and received 501 C3 tax-exempt status from the Federal Government on July 24, 2000.

FWA began in 1981, initially meeting in a second story storefront in Chalmette. After one year, the congregation rented a church building at 1041 Friscoville Ave., in Arabi, where they remained for 9 years. Due to growth and the deteriorated condition of that facility, the church leased the former Chalmette Post Office building located at 901 W. Judge Perez Dr., in 1990, renovated it, and remained there for six years until their lease expired. That lease was not renewed by the landlord, who had other commercial plans for the building. At that time, the church was holding meetings on Sunday evenings in a hotel meeting room in Kenner and having significant response. Since a large segment of the church came from the Metairie/Kenner area already, after much prayer and thoughtful deliberation, the leadership of the church decided to relocate it to the Metairie/Kenner area. The church met in hotels for part of 1996 and 1997. The church located in a storefront at 3729 Williams Blvd. in 1997, renovated and enlarged that space and occupied it until purchasing the facility at 1401 Joe Yenni Blvd. (formerly Hope Assembly of God) in April of 2004. Dr. Russell Tardo is the founding pastor of the church and the church has had no other pastor since its inception. Thus, the church has a 32 year history. Faithful Word Assembly is a single and distinct organization. It is not held, governed, controlled, subsidized or under the umbrella of any other agency, individual, organization, denomination or corporation.
